Four Spotted Chaser

Someone recommended Thursley National Nature Reserve as a place to find Dragonflies and Damsel Flies locally.  It only about 15miles away, but I have never been here before, and I spent wonderful time with walks over one of the largest remaining fragments of Surrey heath, including areas of lowland heath, mire and woodland. In particular broadwalks, over boggy ground offer views over the heath in all directions, ad get you close to the ponds.

I didn't see too many flying creatures, but this Four Spotted Chaser was hanging tightly on to grass just off the boardwalk, and was clearly not going anywhere.  Nearby, Marsh Orchids were flowering - see extras
