High Rigg

Back out onto the hills today with a lovely client but a dreadful forecast.
It was a skills acquisition day - meaning no need to go high (thankfully) or to go far (mercifully) but definitely a requirement for complex ground. So some local knowledge put to use and we headed North to High Rigg above St Johns in the Vale.
It's a truly beautiful spot - abundant in ring contours, outcrops, streams and pools -distinctly  its own place - but surrounded by the towering presence of the high fells, Helvelly to the South, Blencathra to the North - Thirlmere and Bassenthwaite twinkling below.
Today's blip was a difficult choice - but in the end I went with this - it reflects the day perfectly - the dazzling moments of sun, the drama of the skies, the sudden darkening rain showers and the fitful gusts of gale. As the clouds played rorschach across the hills it was a joy to behold.

We even managed to finish the day with a moment of instructor turned tour guide and a visit to Castlerigg stone circle.
