Shag Rock & the Southern Alps

Ansel Adams once said, “The negative is the equivalent of the composer’s score, and the print the performance.”

I love the zoomed in perspective the telephoto lens has given this image. It looks as though the houses at Moncks Bay are at the foothills of the Southern Alps, when in fact the Alps are many kilometres away. I was sitting on top of Cave Rock, right beside the Signal Station, when I took this image. You can see the water swirling into the Christchurch Estuary, via the Sumner Bar, right behind Shag Rock (or what's left of it)!

I wonder what Ansel Adams would have thought of the 'performance' (computer editing) that has been done to my 'negative' (RAW image). And I wonder what you'll think too!
