Travel Bug

This is a travel bug I found under Ribble Head Viaduct.

To the uninitiated travel bugs are all part of a world wide electronic treasure hunt called Geocaching

The idea is that someone hides a container containing small items and posts it's GPS location on the Geocaching website. Then other people download the Geocache location to their GPS device and go and find them. When you find one the idea is to add something to the cache and take something out to take to another cache.

Now, the Travel Bug is trackable, so with this you also tell the Geocaching website where you found it and again where you leave it. This way it can be tracked aroung the world.

You will notice this has a footballer, and was initially placed near Manchester with the wish that it visit all the UK towns with a famous football club. This seems to have been missed by most people, hence it ending up at Ribblehead. I will try to put this right by leaving it fairly close to Elland Road, the famous Leeds football club.
