Spider's eyes

Mr Spider still in jar this morning so I thought I'd have a Macro go at his face. I had to do this with him still in the jar and he kept moving around so it became quite a game. No very good shots I'm afraid but I did manage to get his eyes and mandibles in focus in this one, although the pedipals are out of focus. These are the long structures between the mouth and the front legs.  The male uses the pedipalps to fertilize the female during mating. The female also has pedipals but they are not as bulbus and large as the males - I hink this Spider must be a male!  Anyway, he's at the bottom of the garden now, but I expect he'll find his way back to the house very quickly!
