Guarding the Nest

I spent some time at the osprey nest this morning.  It was interesting to be able to see the live camera feed on my phone while I was there watching the nest.  Since the chicks have hatched, it seems the only time the male leaves is to go fishing.  In this shot, the female is shading the chicks from the sun in the nest with the male on the right.  Something definitely got their attention.  The extra is another screenshot. Mom is feeding the smallest chick after the older ones had their fill.  The fourth egg was not viable and it was obvious in the video today that it was broken.  Here is the link to the live camera feed if you want to take a look.  But, watch out, it can be habit forming!
