Culzean spikes

Tuesday was our last day and we spent the morning at Culzean Castle - the weather was glorious with an amazing sky.

This is a picture of the terrace below the castle - there are a number of Echium pininana among the many tender shrubs grown here. These monocarpic plants come from the island of La Palma, in the Canaries.

My extra picture is of the native 'Brandy Bottle' waterlilies in the Swan Pond. I tried brightening it, but preferred it as it was.
