Entiat River - Dillwater reach

A fun part of our work is evaluating how completed projects perform over time. USFW and Chelan County Natural Resources built the Dillwater project in 2012 to improve aquatic habitat for endangered salmonids. As part of the project they constructed multiple large logjams, large wood bank structures, and riparian plantings.

A key part in building effective habitat is engaging the low flow channel and here we can see that with the placement of this apex logjam. This logjam is creating a scour pool in front of the structure, deflecting flows around it which work to sort sediment, and providing complex cover and hiding habitat. Textbook work from USFW and CCNRD!
