Dead end street, are they called cul-de-sacs in English? It's a French word but I've come across it in English books. Interestingly the Icelandic word for such a street is "botnlangi" which means appendix, not the kind you sometimes get at the end of a book, but the kind you get at one end of the colon, not the punctuation mark, the intestine.
I remember meye Danish teacher at school had had an appendectomy and got to keep her appendix, which had dried up, and she kept in her pencil case and would show to us kids on special occasions.
