Hazel Graduates From MLC

It was such a fun night to see our oldest granddaughter, Hazel, graduate from MLC here in Portland.  This is a photo of her (on the right) with all of her friends at the cake reception after the ceremony.  Later there was a dance.  The girls looked so pretty in their dresses and the boys too...such nice kids all the way around.  The teachers divided up the students, with each teacher giving out certificates for his/her row.  The remaining teachers stood in a receiving line and hugged every single student as they went through the line...there were not too many dry eyes in the house.  For many of these kids, they have been attending MLC since they were in kindergarten, and even though it's a k-12 school, many of the 8th graders will be attending one of the Portland high schools.  And because MLC pulls from every district, many of these kids will be attending different high schools, so this is the last time they will be with this group of friends on a daily basis.  So it was both a happy and sad occasion, and one I will remember.  I love you Hazel!!!
