Growing old disgracefully

By GOD

IN THE WOODS

I think this is Wood Stitchwort (Stellaria nemorum), but I'm happy to be corrected.  Difficult to get into the finer points of identification while at any moment a Snuggle Monster may tear our of a dark corner of the undergrowth and smother you in hugs.

Later, the Snuggle Monster and I had a long talk about miner bees, carpenter bees and mason bees.  As if that wasn't taxing enough for my wee brain, we later talked about which animals have opposable thumbs.  Old World monkeys sometimes do, New World Monkeys never do.  I didn't know that!  Did you know that?  How did I get through 64 and a half years without knowing?
