Lovely Day

There is usually something of entomological interest wherever we go in Corsica. Tiny ants in one place or bluebottles , large ants, butterflies , medium sized ants etc etc.
This morning we woke to rumbles of thunder and blobs of rain started to appear.  Our folding chairs and their covers were outside so I rushed out and threw them into the van in the nick of time. I sat down with a smug smile of satisfaction at having beaten the rain which had properly started hammering down by now. Then I did a Mr Bean style double take when I saw a large and very hairy caterpillar crawling on one of the chairs, the sort that give you a rash at ten paces, let alone if you actually touch them,( sorry CharlotteJ, look away now).  They were crawling with dozens of caterpillars. We had to chuck the whole lot outside again into the rain, and LooseCanon in his waterproof jacket, paddling around in a rapidly developing pool of mud, got soaked flicking the caterpillars into the bushes. I stood in the dry , directing proceedings with helpful advice like 'There's one!'  and 'Oh and there's another one!'. Meanwhile in all the kerfuffle our toasted brioche got overdone and was distinctly charred.
How we laughed.
Then the rain quickly cleared up and we had a glorious run down to where we are now near L'Ile Rousse. We are camping under a very ancient and gnarled olive tree, full of insect holes and birds. What could possibly go wrong?
One more day tomorrow then an overnight crossing back to Nice.
I think LooseCanon is going to blip one of the offending caterpillars as an extra
This was overlooking the coast somewhere near Centuri.
