Now, as I see it......

Mono Monday Challenge: Angle

Lots of angles in this shot of electricity cables I spotted on a walk round the village lanes this afternoon.  And quite appropriate to my day, as will become clear.

For a long time we have had a second TV in the bedroom which runs off the same Sky box as the main TV, and a couple of weeks ago it stopped working.  A long phone call to Sky during which I probably lost half a stone running up and down stairs, switching things off and back on again, resulted in the technical diagnosis; it was broken.  We needed a new Sky box, so I decided to upgrade so that we could watch different things upstairs and down; particularly useful with the Rugby World Cup coming up!

Today the man from Sky turned up to do the job.  He was outside running new cables and after about 10 minutes I heard this almighty explosion!  Dashed outside and there was a hole in the wall surrounded by lots of black marks, and very dazed-looking Sky man, having just put a nail through the main electricity supply cable to the house!  He had superficially burned two fingers but was clearly shocked.  Now, neither of us are medical experts but a mug of hot sweet tea followed by a large whisky seemed to help (for him, I hasten to add, not me).  His boss soon turned up and took him off to hospital for a check-up.

Of course, now we had no power.  A call to the Electricity company and they arrived within the hour to fix the problem, although a more permanent fix will be needed later on.  Later in the afternoon two more Sky men came to finish the job, so we now have the TV side of the problem sorted out.

And the Sky man?  He's OK.  He called back later in the day to thank us for looking after him, and said that the hospital had subjected him to a full range of checks to his heart, kidneys etc, and passed him with flying colours, so that is a relief.

Thanks to JDO for hosting the challenge again this week!
