Messing About on the River

Day 2 of our trip to Oxford and we were up early, to make sure we didn't miss the large breakfast in the guest house!  After stuffing ourselves to bursting point, we made our way into Oxford centre to meet up with Daniel. My sister hadn't had a look around New College before, so he gave us a tour, followed by a walk around University Parks, trying to wear off that huge breakfast...as we'd promised to take Daniel to lunch.

After a couple of hours, we had a quick lunch in Turl Street Kitchen, before the highlight of the day...punting!  Daniel had booked one of the punts, owned by the college.  Jane and I had never been punting before and it was hilarious fun!   Extremely tricky trying to get two, quite clumsy, middle aged women into the boat, without it tipping over, but we managed it, somehow!  Daniel took us down the river, managing not to fall off, zig-zagging our way along, trying to avoid branches in our faces and eventually we got to a pub where we moored the boat and stopped for coffee and cake, then punted back to the boat house again.  We absolutely loved it!  Thanks Daniel!

It was early evening by the time we got back and time for Jane and I to leave (and poor Daniel had to get back to studying in the library...he must have been exhausted) We said our goodbyes and Jane drove us back.  A great weekend!
