Time lost

Caught this view of the clock tower on Romsey’s Norman Abbey today.
We’ve been in this garden before at the historic King John’s House, but last time I missed this spectacular view of the Abbey, framed by the summer roses.
Both are slap bang in the centre of the Hampshire market town, and are a draw for visitors to the town and local people alike. Yet you can easily miss the gardens at King John’s House, and this view, unless you take time to walk through the tea rooms and outside again to the exquisite garden alongside the adjoining heritage centre.
The tranquillity of the garden is reward enough. But in the right spot you catch this unrivalled view of the Abbey and its clock.

Time may not standstill in the town centre, but in this spot you lose count of any particular point in time. It’s everlasting.
