Under The Bridge

We have moved down the road to Avignon. Sous les ponts d'Avignon, people danced and made merry. This is that bridge. Some of it was washed away in 1668 in floods and this is all that remains.
You can also see the Palais des Papes, from the time when the Pope relocated to Avignon in 1309 after a bit of bother in Rome.
If you look very carefully you can see Mont Ventoux in the far distance. It is white not due to snow but because of a lack of vegetation. It's just bare dusty rocks up there. We had toyed with the idea of cycling up it , but Loosecanon thinks it will be too windy and also that I am severely underprepared, but he didn't actually say that.
