Laugharne

We came home from Tenby today.  On the way back we stopped off at Laugharne, the village where Dylan Thomas lived and worked with his family.

His house, the Boathouse, is accessible from the village and sits on the estuary with beautiful views across the water. As we walked to the house we passed the Writing Shed, which used to be a garage for the house, looking internally just as Dylan would have had it whilst working, i.e. a mess.

The Boathouse itself is right on the water's edge and is reached by stone steps leading down from the track.  Comprising only four or five rooms containing Dylan memorabilia and hosting a tea room where the delicious smell of freshly baked bara brith filled the air.

There a a few pubs in the village including Brown's Hotel, which has his portrait as their pub sign, being one of his regular hang-outs.

Laugharne also boasts a castle, which is very impressive.
