a return

shed

today i went walking for the first time through the botanical garden on the university of maine campus.  iris, azaleas, rhododendron were in full bloom, begging to be photographed.  a bit overwhelmed by all the choices, i headed off down an overgrown road instead.  over time i came upon this abandoned shed tucked in behind a stand of trees.  a humble building of simple wood construction, i assumed it once held tools and equipment for the gardens.  i puzzled over the heavy iron grates on every window.  all sorts of colorful scenarios went through my mind as to why they were there.  in the end, i guessed that the school mascot, the black bear, was somehow involved.  but that's just a guess….
