From backpacker to imperialist

I wore long trousers and ditched the flip flops long enough to be allowed entry into the Raffles bar. As I am a novice at strong alcohol I could only nurse one cocktail all evening. I think the bar has been refurbished to a 'modern colonial' theme, which is slightly questionable as an ideology, yet on an aesthetic level it is pleasant.
