Granny's Bedspread

Sorting through some more boxes and bags from my parents' home.  This is one of my Granny's bedspreads.  These were on the beds we slept in when we visited her home.  They always made me think of ripples on a sandy beach

My maternal grandparents lived beside the sea, at Lytham St Annes in Lancashire, and we stayed for a week or two during the summer holidays. Looking at this shot now makes me think of the pier, the beach-hut, the boating pond, the waterfall at the ornamental garden, the outdoor swimming pool (which was freezing cold), Fairhaven Lake and The Windmill.  All very happy memories from my childhood.
