Purple Field

For the last two-plus weeks, we've seen this purple field emerge from about 3/4 mile away. It's been beautiful to watch from a distance, but I had to get a closer look. So today, I hiked across the mowed fields of grass and hay to get up close and personal. I still don't know what it is, but it smells unbelievably earth sweet, very aromatic, and the bees have the field buzzing. One bee even inflicted one sting to my shin, and if you have to suffer a bee sting, the shin is not a bad place to get it. I barely felt it, just a little burning. So I'm still curious as to what this purple crop is, but I'll be back to catch it at even better light.
