family past

Thought-provoking sort of day, part of it spent clearing brambles, moss and other age-encroaching detritus from old family grave at St Uny churchyard, Lelant.

The palette slate on top commemorates my great Uncle Gordon, known as Skip, who was an artist in the St. Ives area. My memory of him was a cheerfully unkempt salty sort of reprobate, who my rather 'proper' grandmother was often mildly embarrassed about. So a bit of an influence on me when I was much younger and beyond!

(Extra photo is St Uny, which sits above the Hayle estuary, into St Ives Bay)
