A different kind of Jubilee

Have just left my bike at the Edinburgh Bike Co-op for a service (no, I haven't the skills needed to do it myself) and spotted this as I crossed the Links towards Bruntsfield. Famous for being home to two of the world's oldest golf Clubs, but once also host to a display of popular democratic fervour.

And if you know Muriel Spark's book about Jean Brodie, the inspiration (James Gillespies) for her school (Marcia Blane) is just across by the links course.
