Female Widow Skimmer

There are so many dragonflies about at present. I think I have identified this correctly, but it does not appear in all lists. According to what I found, it is Libellula luctuosa. Please correct me if you know otherwise.

This evening we went to Charlie's extended sixth birthday. I say extended because he had already had a pool party for his friends and this was for grandparents and great grandparents! Katie made a cake, frozeni, from ice cream sandwiches, layered with a fudge of some sort. It was better than DQ
