Error 01

I've been using my 17-85mm Canon Lens with my 7D for quite some time now, this morning that pairing decided not to co-operate with each other.
Repeated showing of error 01, "The communication between the camera and lens is faulty". "Try cleaning the connections". Unfortunately I had nothing with me to clean the connections with. So it was a matter of sitting back and taking in the sunrise, watching people coming and going, the Tern's diving into the shallows to catch a fish or two.
Just a beautiful morning down here at Hardway, Gosport.
