The School Bus

Do you remember what a mad rush it was
to get to your favourite seat

and that the cool kids
always sat at the back?

Boys never sat with girls. Even though,
eventually, they wanted to.

These days they probably do?

There was lots of messing about
but I can’t recall a journey
where a ‘serious’ fight occurred

or any occasion
where the driver had to stop the bus
and threaten to throw anyone off.

The friction of bouncing along a bumpy road
could cause an erection

as could the fact that Rosemary Creasey
was sitting just in front of you.
