A French Imperial Eagle

A replica of a French regimental Eagle at Waterloo.

Each Eagle was the regiment's banner and was carried into battle at the front of the troops to inspire them. It is said that each one was presented by Napoleon himself.

Two French Eagles were captured by the British at Waterloo but this was kept safe and secure in the French bivouac ahead of the reenactment on the battle that evening.
