An empty nest!!

Back in the beginning of May, I blipped a picture of a couple of Blue Tits building a nest in the bird box that we have in our tree in our front garden - the picture is here!!
 
The birds continued to build away and then all of a sudden they never returned!
 
We kept an eye out of them but to no avail - no sign of their return.
 
I decided to look into the nest and alas I found a wonderfully crafted nest with the eggs laid - but they will never hatch as Mum and Dad have now long gone!!
 

Sad but that's nature for you...and maybe next year things might turn out better!!
