Pond life

This rather abstract photo is of one of the ponds at Southampton University's botanic gardens with the sun shining on the pondweed. They used to be pristine and well kept gardens but now seem to be given over to wild life but it is still beautiful there. I think this pond could do with a bit of attention though! I wonder what lurks beneath?!
