The Courtyard

Malta Day 5

Chilling by the pool day, reading books, bliss :o)

This is a gorgeous courtyard in the nearby church and the only photo I took!

Evening meal was at a place called Commando which quickly became our favourite restaurant. It got its name because at the time of the war, this owners family's gracious hospitality earned them the patronage of the Royal Marine Commandos who were stationed at the nearby camp at Għadira Bay. It was these men who eventually christened the establishment with the name. Having carefully crafted a wooden sign which read “Commando Bar”, they carried it up the hill and secured it in place above the door as a gesture of camaraderie.

I had duck but we can't remember what Catherine had (likely to be fish!) but we do know we were happy as it was excellent! And they had Japanese whisky - wow...
