(Digital) Sunshine on Haymarket

Wow. What a day at work. Two major events delivered, along with some brilliant youth engagement and involvement in exciting new policy developments. So proud of our amazing and dedicated team.

A highlight this morning was a visit from the superb young Scottish actor Kevin Guthrie, star of Sunshine on Leith and the new Robert Carlyle movie The Legend of Barney Thomson. Kevin was meeting with some of our Digital Creative Modern Apprentices to talk about careers in the digital creative industries, including film and theatre.

All will be revealed on Friday but I was so impressed with Kevin, both in terms of how genuinely interested he was in each of the MAs experiences, but also how passionate he was about getting more young people excited about the creative industries.

Then tonight we launched our new iRights work in the Scottish Parliament. So many wonderful guests, representing all kinds of sectors and interest in terms of young people and their digital rights. The founder, Baroness Beeban Kidron have such an inspirational speech about the issues and the work that will be done. She of course also knows a thing or two about the creative industries, given that one of her directing credits included Bridget Jones Edge of Reason!
