Regeneration

This corner of the road where it enters Glen Massan crosses an old stone bridge. On either side of the road just before the bridge there has been a considerable amount of tree-felling, and the remains - random branches, roots, uprooted stumps - have, for some reason, been arranged in long rows and let there. However, it's what has been going on in the spaces in between, where a local group has planted hundreds of broad-leaf trees, some of which are now tall enough to poke out of the tops of their protective plastic tubes.

All that is, as it were, just behind the camera. But this photo - taken partly because the rhododendrons (yes - the rampant pest ones) are in attractive flower, but also because on the near bank a sizeable area of the bank has been strengthened by the addition of huge stones and the area behind it flattened as if in readiness for further action. I haven't a clue what will happen now, but it's good to see some positive action instead of neglect.
