Ascott

Had a lovely bimble around Ascott gardens at Wing with G today, ran out of time to go round the house as well.   This beautiful National Trust property was created by Leopold de Rothschild from 1874.  The Ascott art collection, house and gardens, was gifted to the National Trust in 1949 as long as the collection remained in situ with the family still in residence.  Therefore it still has the feel of a private house.

The photo is of the Eros fountain.  There were lots of lovely flowers and it was difficult to choose a photo to use today - I've also included a photo of foxgloves.  Whilst we sat by a small lake, G noticed that there were hundreds of froglets moving about in the grass.  I've also included an extra photo of one on a fingertip - they were tiny.
