Life after pruning

On the one sunny day we had around April, I spent the day in the garden pruning this Cornus.  I wasn't sure I was doing it properly, but it seems to have worked as this is the one of the few plants that are flourishing at the moment.  The extra blip shows another part of the garden where seeds and bulbs are taking their time to grow.
