Busy Lizzie

Walked from Galmpton, South Devon, this evening to Greenway, the River Dart and back to Galmpton for a pint at the Manor Inn. Outside the pub were three traction engines and inside were their crew, because as any Fred watcher will tell you these engines are thirsty work. The landlord arranged a photo session with the lady of the moment next to her namesake Elizabeth. This lovely engine came from Macclesfield and belongs to R H Metcalfe of Tolletts Farm, Sutton. The traction engines were appearing at the Dartmouth Steam Railway Heritage Festival this weekend. What a convivial olde world village atmosphere they created.
