The Kids Upstairs

Introducing... three Yellow-crowned Night-Heron chicks that hatched in the nest on the branch overhanging my house. My neighbor thought he saw four, but perhaps something happened to the fourth or he is hiding down in the nest. Ma and Pa Heron spend most of the day at the creek, coming home to feed regurgitated crabs to the chicks. "Cheep-cheep-cheep-cheep!" say the chicks during feeding time. They are perfectly quiet the rest of the time.
