First View of Buttermere

Len, Basil and I travelled to the Lake District today, staying at the Bridge Hotel in Buttermere for four nights. No sooner in our room, than out with the camera to get a shot of this iconic lake.

No matter that it was cloudy, it's still terrifically beautiful.

Sad to say, the old tree that used to be a mecca for photographers at the northwestern end, has collapsed into the water, leaving just one branch protruding above the surface.

And don't believe you can walk round Buttermere. The northwestern shore is closed currently because sandpipers are nesting there.
