Charlie ..

I just met Charlie, a beautiful Golden Retriever in the Fairgrounds.  A group of dog lovers are setting up for a small dog show that will happen at the Strawberry Fair tomorrow.  (hope they get good weather at least for most of the day)
For a number of years recently, I have participated in a challenge in Burlington called "One Day in the Life of Burlington".  The notable aspect of this challenge is to take 40 images successively of anything in the boundary of Burlington in a given 24 hour period, usually a Sunday.  These images cannot be altered in any way to be accepted for judging.  Indeed some participants use 36 roll film.  For the creative digital photographer today, this might be more than they can handle.  Cropping, minor light adjustments, sharpening, white balance adjustments, all are so tempting to create the perfect image.  In some cases, a stray hydro wire can easily be cloned out as it distracts the eye.  And with digital, we can take 10 or 15 images of the same subject until we get it right. FINALLY  I got it!!!  I'm guilty of all this, I admit, but as a great photographer we need to try to get it right  .. in camera... the first time.  Much easier said than done!  My images today were not altered in any way and the jpegs are right from the camera. I did take at least 3 of the dog, his eyes were closed and he barked once, and 2 of the flower, and 4 of the sunset, (the portrait image left out some distractions).  Hmmm .. 1/4 of a roll of 36 for 3 blips .. Not bad!
Hope everyone has a great weekend !  Happy blipping!
