Amazement

Surprise birthday breakfast at ours for Oleksij, our church's Ukrainian intern - he was genuinely surprised and moved - full marks to Sam and others who organised it. We sat round in the blazing (!) sunshine, eating bacon and sausage rolls, and chatting.

Quote from a Buechner book I'm reading, talking about the value of amazement:
"...the capacity to be amazed at the unending power that can be generated by the meeting and trading of lives, which is a power to heal us and bless us and in the end maybe even to transform us into truly human beings at last."

Now off to a jazz and blues festival in LIchfield - not decided yet whether to take the camera or not... If I do, might add an extra later.
