Rodeo!

Nothing says summer like an evening at the rodeo with friends. First, a glass of bubbles on the patio where we surveyed the deer damage to my flowers. They have dead-headed so many plants; I'm about to shoot the guilty one....and I know who she is. Anyway....they'll grow back. So, after bubbles, off to dinner at the Wild Mare....how apropos...where we picked up more bodies for the rodeo. It's too hot to do much else. 103 was the topper...that's 40C yet again.
We all piled into cars and trucks and went off to the fairgrounds. the animals were in fine shape. This rodeo is an old-timer's rodeo....over 40 plus other classes over 50 and finally 60 and above. This is on of the gals in her 50s who is cutting a fine figure in the barrel race. I think she won with this ride.
To explain, the barrels are placed in a triangle and the rider has to race around them in a clover-leaf pattern....circling each barrel without knocking it over. Hard to do at a full-on gallop. Ride 'im, cowgirl!
