Escape to the coast...

...from the inland heat. Our usual beach destination near the mouth of the Columbia river was occupied by a large group of kite boarders at one end. There is plenty of room though. 
I did beach clean-up. John sat and read his spy book, then would update me on how the story unfolded. We ate an early supper across from the pilot- boat house in Astoria, and watched them in action ferrying the bar pilots and river pilots to and fro from the ships. On the way home we stopped at a place in Ranier on the river, listened to live saxophone music and watched the sunset. The extra pictures are from there.
