Open Day

It was Lifeboat Open Day today. It was a brilliant day, but a long one. I was up at six as we had to be down at the station for seven for setup.

We got it all organised fairly quickly and the rain even cleared up by the time we started at lunchtime.

The helicopter exercise was a wee bit more exciting last year as I got to get winched up into the copter, but it was great to see it and get a chance to take some photos this year.

They did a couple of runs where they lifted crew off the boat then, for this one Calum jumped off the boat into the water and they demonstrated how they would send down a winch man to recover a casualty from the water. That meant they were able to do it far closer to the end of the pier which was great for photos.

We finished off the day with a crew meal at a local pub, which was a great way to end the day. I'm shattered now though.
