Just the Children and I

Yesterday evening, it became clear why the appeal to Beloved of the food festival in Colchester was diminished. She is unwell, to the point where she failed to finish dinner, went to bed and barely rose again for 24 hours. Only this evening did she again venture out.

So today, the children and I breakfasted and thought about what we'd like to do with the day. During late morning, we agreed that a trip to the seaside would be top of the list. Unfortunately the children failed to get ready much before 4pm. I had asked them to help with tidying whilst Mater H slept after lunch (having agreed that a departure before lunch with rain forecast would be foolhardy). Instead then, we remained at home and Miss I helped to prepare dinner of chicken and vegetable pie. She is quite the ace at making pastry it turns out!

I had just enough time to water the garden in the early evening before completing the other chores required in readiness for the rubbish and recycling collection in the morning, and the start of the school week.
