on the way from Norden to Corfe Castle

Swanage Railway again.  Norden Station is currently the far end of the line for passenger trains, but next spring a two year trial is scheduled to be introduced from Swanage to the mainline station at Wareham. But before that can happen the railway track for the long neglected third Wareham platform will need to be laid.

But now for a quick word or two about this photo.  The locomotive is pulling the carriages backwards down the track; given the large tender (which is mainly carrying coal) now at the head of the train, the driver must have a very limited view of the track ahead.

A more pleasing photo of train and castle could be taken if the locomotive was just moving forwards.  It's all to do with a viewer's expectations and the placement of the steam/smoke.

A final mention is needed, about the numerous mole hills in the foreground.  Moles seem to be just as numerous as badgers in Purbeck, and neither of these ostentatiously burrowing species seems to serve any useful purpose..... perhaps they are just other varieties of steam railway enthusiasts.
