These Flowers Must Be Photographed

said Len, as he was leaving for the shops.

They're gazanias, a flower we hadn't grown before last year as we'd never heard of them. The milkman brings bedding plants and compost as well as milk and eggs, so we'd got them from him.

They bloomed tremendously last year and as you can see, have carried over to this year as well with even more buds on the plants.

We were encouraged when we saw a gazania flowering in Reykjavik last October at temperatures hovering around 0C, so we thought we'd leave the plants in the pots.

Hottest day in the East Midlands since 2006. The temperature in the sun reached over 40C. I'm beginning to feel it and am trying to hydrate with with dilute lime juice and water with ice.
