North Uist

Today we explored North Uist. First was the short drive to Lang's Lodge for an Otter Walk with the RSPB. Unfortunately we didn't see any otters and the walk was cut short as part of the path was closed because there was a helicopter moving stone up the hill for a new path (and you wouldn't want that to fall on your head!). So instead we went to the RSPB reserve at Balranald and had a walk over the dunes and back on the beach. We headed up to Solas to go to the Co-op for supplies, passing this croft house on the way, which I think must be one of the most photographed spots on the island! Another lovely beach at Hosta after lunch, then a drive out to the Sanctuary Sculpture at Locheport. All that exploring called for a good dinner, so we had a full three courses at the Temple View Hotel, including an amazing Hebridean Seafood platter for two - yummy!
