THE DE-FRET JOB

Pleasurable work tinged with nostalgia...

When St. Jaco Pastorius first played in the old "Ancienne Belgique" with "Weather Report" circa 1981(?) I had to de-fret umpteen Jazz basses & fill the fret-slots with slivers of maple. Beautiful!

Six months later, was obliged to re-fret umpteen Jazz basses (less two or three) because the punters just couldn't hack it. So it goes!

Anyway, when you get it right you get a marvellous sound somewhere in between the sitar & the trombone.

Mission accomplished :o)
