Two Romanesque Prelates

This pair of gaunt statues is displayed in a small side gallery in the wonderful large church at Tournus, where we stopped  on our drive further north to the heart of Burgundy.  There was no label giving precise information, so I can't supply any--enjoy the image.

Earlier we stopped at Cluny, whose enormous abbey was in a sense the heart of medieval Christianity in France.  It was mostly destroyed following the French Revolution beginning in 1789 (only 8% remained), and although that has been well restored, the very extensive later additions are daunting and uninteresting--a frustrating visit.

Backblipped the next morning.
