Or blacksmith lapwing, formerly known as the blacksmith plover but rebranded for some reason by the people who do that sort of thing - I'm sure the birds don't care one way or the other!

I was please to catch this one in flight as you can clearly see the spurs on its wings. This shot was taken during an early morning walk around the mouth of the St Lucia Estuary.

I was less pleased to get back home several hours later to discover that my cottage had been burgled while I had been away for the night.
