Is this normal?

C got an apple tree from school about a month ago.

Now I know they should be planted in winter / spring, but if given a free tree then it needed planted.

Anyway, it went into the lawn and received a serious amount of water.

As well as the half dozen or so apples on it, it now has fresh blossom!

Not sure if it's because it got planted at the wrong time of year or what.
